Fundraising & Events

Events have come to a standstill for most of 2020 and running any fundraising activities has been that much more challenging.  But, here's a medley of some of our most successful projects over the past few years and a new initiative we are launching for Christmas 2020.

The popular annual Chandlers Ford Itchen Walk has been a very successful event each year for people of Chandlers Ford and the surrounding area to enjoy a Sunday walk along the Itchen River and help raise money for the charity of your choice. We do the organising - you enjoy the view!

In 2017 the walk raised £9200 for local charities.

Who says Rotary can't swing it!  In collaboration with Accord Accountants in Chandlers Ford, Rotary Rocks saw a fantastic line-up of talented local musicians and singers to perform some of the most uplifting and feel good songs ever written and to raise much needed funds in support of local youth and community charities.

Over £1100 donated to the local Scouts and Guides

In 2019, Father Christmas had some helping hands during his appearance at Asda from our team of volunteers, Mickey and Trigger the Train.  For the two weekends leading up to Christmas, the children of Asda shoppers could meet with 'the big man' and have their photo taken.

Over £1700 donated to Sophie's Appeal

A wonderful local charity to support the social, emotional and educational welfare of children, their families, nursing and support staff and provide a caring and supportive environment in both local hospitals and in the community.

In September 2020, Accord Accountants' popular annual charity fundraiser golf competition, The Accord Cup, proved to be an outstanding success, especially being able to meet socially outdoors safely while restrictions still permitted. Fifteen teams of four players, including two teams from our Rotary club, enjoyed a great game and gorgeous sunny weather at the Ampfield Golf Club and were treated to freshly made bacon baps and BBQ-grilled burgers at the end of play.

Ticket sales were highly successful and thanks to Accord's generous contribution, raffle prizes offered by club members and three incredible gift hampers kindly donated by Asda, our fundraising efforts were rewarded with all monies attributed to our President's chosen charities.

Father Christmas Zooms into Hampshire

Father Christmas is getting ready to make his annual delivery, but this year he has accepted Chandlers Ford Rotary Club’s invitation to speak to young people in a new way.

The pandemic and lockdown may be making it difficult for him to appear in person this year, but Father Christmas has devised a clever plan. With the help of Rotary and the use of modern technology he will still be able to meet with Hampshire’s children before Christmas Eve during a personalised and interactive Zoom call from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

To add to the magic, Father Christmas will know each child’s name and will have a chat about the things that mean the most to them and their hopes and dreams for Christmas and by December 24th they will receive a final message from him before the big day.
